JESSICA in JAPAN

{December 9, 2007}   Monkey Park

We took a class excursion to a Monkey Mountain at Arashiyama in Kyoto City (Japans old capital city) ….. We walked up a mountain for about 20 minutes… at the top were tons of monkeys! Little ones and Big ones (the babies were the cutest!) We were able to feed them some ‘Ringo’ (apples), and they have the funniest hands, they feel just like a humans!

I enjoyed this place so much. The monkeys were relatively tame and very cute (even with their red bottoms) … but we were warned not to make eye contact with them or they may feel threatened and try to attack us.

Here’s a pic of Ben and I with a monkey

{December 9, 2007}   Brave Language Learners

A conclusion I have come to recently is – brave people learn language faster…..

I’m not an especially brave person…and I’m a little self conscious too…. Often I don’t speak in case i say the wrong thing, or cant remember the right words…

The people in our class at school who are doing really well with the language are the bold ones with lots of self confidence…they strive ahead because they arnt afraid to speak – they just keep trying.. I have a lot to learn from them.

I am praying that the Lord God Almighty will fill me with boldness from Him, and that I can learn to rise above the fear of speaking in another language – I am looking for a breakthrough in this area particularly!
